It's official. Our daughter is now a member of the CHY swim team. Last night, we attended a mandatory parents meeting where we were taught all of the "ins and outs" of being swim team parents. Our vocabulary will now include phrases such as "dual-meets," "relay," "zones," "invitationals," and plenty of other terms that made my head spin.
Most of the parents at the mandatory meeting are veterans of the swim team circuit. We were the newbies and I believe that it was quite evident by the dollar signs swirling around my head that were joined by the question marks, too. There was a lot of information that was very useful to us but the vets. were becoming quite bored by the redundant dates, times, monetary amounts, and parent obligation mandates that were given to the group attending.
We are looking forward to this new adventure with our daughter. Just call her Phelps Jr.!
