To Join or not to Join...

So the newest craze amongst my friends is the social networking service of Facebook. I joined Facebook several months back under an alias e-mail so that I could "speak" with an old high school friend of mine yet we never really used Facebook, we ended up talking the old fashioned way...e-mail!!!

I am a real newbie at using Facebook and still don't quite feel comfortable in that arena. When I was asked to "become a friend" of one of the gals that use Facebook, I first checked it all out again. It felt weird navigating through her friends, and their friends and so on. I learned some interesting facts about their past, their goals, favorite colors, songs, and the list never seemed to end. I found out what "they were doing now," how "they felt" and even what they had eaten that day. Oh, and what exercise they were going to use to burn the calories from the food they had just finished eating.

Felt like voyeurism.

Felt really weird.

Felt like I was in high school again.

One of the "walls" I read said that her fear was she was becoming addicted to Facebook. Yep, a stay-at-home mom complaining that she can't get all the things done she needs to do in a day because she is addicted to Facebook. Facebook?

What am I missing? What makes Facebook addicting? I really would like to know what is the appeal of Facebook?

Oops, this is Sally On Sports. A blog. An addiction? Wonder what my friends on Facebook would say if they knew I did this in my spare time?
