I just got back from Home Depot and I am sure my husband is very happy that I returned with only one new project to start. Okay, maybe there are two but he doesn't need to know that!
We dwell in an old home. And we knew that eventually there would come a time when things would need to be replaced. The kitchen floor is on the agenda and has been for the past few years! I don't know what I am doing and I think that it just overwhelms Ryan to think about having to replace the floor. So I have started removing the vinyl squares in there. One by one. Square by Square. I am scoring the vinyl squares then painstakingly trying to remove them. It has not been fun, the whole hour that I have been working on it!!!! I don't think there is an easier way so I will press on!
There are days when I wish Ryan was more of a handyman. "Could you install a garbage disposal? We need a fan in the attic, could you replace the old one? Man, the bathtub is falling apart. Can you re-tile it?" That is the beginning of the list of things that this 78 year old home needs. I get a little frustrated, but then God reminds me of the gift that I have in Ryan.
He loves the kids. He chooses to come home to the kids everyday. He wants to play and hang out with his children. And bike rides are a must every evening. He listens to them, reads to them and loves them unconditionally.
He loves me! He chooses to come home to me everyday! He listens to me, he laughs at my jokes, he lets me control the "flicker" (ESPN please) and he definitely is more patient with me than any other! He asks for my opinion and will always ask what my agenda is before he schedules any golf outing or softball practice. He holds my hand when we are out with friends, and most importantly, he prays for me daily.
So it may take a while before we get all the "things" done that this old house needs but God has taken care of me by giving such a wonderful man to this household.
